Privacy Policy

Tasime is a browser extension for Google Chrome that lets you save, organize, and sync bookmarks and notes across devices. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

01

Who We Are

Tasime is developed and maintained by Tasime Inc., a software company focused on helping people organize their digital life. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, reach out directly:

alternate_email privacy@tasime.com

02

What Data We Collect

2.1 Account & Identity Data

When you sign in with Google, we receive the following via OAuth 2.0 (scopes: openid, email, profile). We never receive your Google password.

Data Source Purpose
Full name Google Display in the extension UI
Email address Google Identify your account
Profile picture URL Google Display your avatar
Google User ID Google Link your account to your data

2.2 Bookmarks

Every bookmark you save is stored with:

  • Title
  • URL
  • Favicon URL
  • Folder / group
  • Order within folder
  • Created & deleted timestamps

Favicons are fetched via the Google Favicon API using only the domain name (e.g., github.com). No full URLs are sent to Google.

2.3 Notes

Every note you create is stored with:

  • Title
  • Full text content
  • Pinned status
  • Created & deleted timestamps

2.4 Open Browser Tabs — Local Only

When you open the Tasime popup, the extension reads the title, URL, and favicon of your currently open tabs to pre-fill the bookmark form.

lock

This data is never sent to our servers. It exists only in memory while the popup is open and is discarded when you close it.

2.6 Usage Preferences

These preferences are stored locally in your browser only and never sent to our servers:

  • Theme (light / dark)
  • Sidebar collapsed state
  • Open links in new tab
device_hub

These preferences are never sent to our servers.

03

How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively to operate the extension. Nothing else.

verified_user Authenticate you and maintain your session securely
sync Store and sync your bookmarks and notes across devices
account_circle Display your profile (name, avatar) inside the extension
delete_sweep Automatically purge trash items after 30 days
tab Suggest bookmarks from your active tab (locally only)
block

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose beyond operating the extension. We do not sell your data.

04

Data Storage

4.1 Remote Storage (Supabase)

Your bookmarks, notes, and account information are stored in a Supabase database (PostgreSQL). All data is transmitted over HTTPS and is strictly isolated per user account — only you can access your data on the server.

4.2 Local Storage (Browser)

The following data is cached locally for offline access and faster load times. It is never shared with third parties.

Key Content Location
token Supabase access token localStorage
userInfo Name, email, picture, user ID localStorage
bookmarks Cached copy of all bookmarks localStorage
notes Cached copy of all notes localStorage
backupData Backup of bookmarks & notes localStorage

05

Third-Party Services

We work with a small number of trusted services to operate Tasime. We share data with no one beyond the following:

manage_accounts
Google OAuth Sign-in authentication

Your Google ID token is sent to Google for validation.

Google Privacy Policy open_in_new
storage
Supabase Cloud database backend

All bookmarks, notes, and your user profile.

Supabase Privacy Policy open_in_new
image
Google Favicon API Retrieve website icons

Only the domain name of each bookmarked URL (e.g., github.com). No full URLs.

06

Chrome Permissions

Tasime requests only the permissions it strictly needs. Here is what each one does:

tab
tabs

Read the active tab's URL and title to suggest it for bookmarking, and display open tabs as quick-save candidates in the popup.

touch_app
activeTab

Access the currently focused tab when the popup is opened.

save
storage

Store your token, preferences, and device identifier locally using Chrome's extension storage.

manage_accounts
identity

Launch the Google OAuth sign-in flow using Chrome's built-in identity service.

alarm
alarms

Schedule a background task every 24 hours to permanently delete items that have been in trash for more than 30 days.

07

Background Activity

Tasime runs a background service worker with exactly one scheduled task:

delete_sweep

Trash purge — runs every 24 hours

Bookmarks and notes that have been in your trash for more than 30 days are permanently deleted. This uses your stored authentication token to send a single request to our Supabase backend. No other background activity occurs.

08

Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the service:

Data Retention Period
Active bookmarks and notes Until you delete them
Trash items 30 days, then permanently deleted
Your account Until you request deletion
Local cache Until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data

10

Children's Privacy

Tasime is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@tasime.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the extension or by other means. Continued use of Tasime after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
